Counter price — without the trip or the queue

Comparing a stamp to an online letter is not a fair fight in either direction: at the counter you still have to print the letter, buy an envelope, and get there. Here is everything a registered letter under 50 g actually costs.

Envelope~2–3 CZKincluded
Print~2–5 CZK (or a copy shop)included

Total~87–96 CZK + time96 CZK on credit / 103 CZK one-off

A registered letter used to cost 110 CZK on both rails; it is now 96 CZK on credit (−13%) and 103 CZK one-off. Credit is cheaper because the fixed card fee is spread across one top-up instead of every single letter.

Honestly: if you own a printer, have envelopes, and live near a post office, a 31 CZK stamp is still the cheapest option. Postbot is for when you would rather not deal with any of that.

How the price is computed

A letter's price has two steps. First we compute the cost — postage for the weight tier plus print per sheet. From the cost we compute the charge with a margin that covers fees and the gap between our estimate and Česká pošta's real price.

Charge (on credit) = rounded up to the next whole CZK from the higher of: cost + 8 CZK, or cost × 1.10.

Each additional sheet costs 1.05 CZK (incl. VAT).

The displayed price is the one-off payment: the charge plus a 7 CZK allowance for the fixed part of the card-processing fee, never below 50 CZK. On credit that fixed part is paid once per top-up rather than per letter, which is why the credit price is lower.

Postage matches the Hybridní pošta / Kredit tariff Česká pošta bills for letters submitted through DopisOnline (tariff effective 1 April 2026) — the same table @postbot/core's price calculation (chargeFor) uses.
